We’re sharing our techniques and recipes for making fresh goat’s milk cheeses with this two-day class! We’ll walk you through the process of culturing and setting the fresh milk, taste a variety of goat cheeses, and make rounds of fresh goat cheese together. You’ll leave with all the cheese that you make and recipes.

After the tour, make time for tasting in the Cream Top Shop or grab a couple of grilled sandwiches to enjoy for lunch.

We’ll taste through a variety of summer pairings from the classic Caprese with our made-in-house hand-pulled mozzarella to more unique dishes! Bread and additional accompaniments will be provided!

Cheddar is the most well-known and loved of the milled curd cheeses throughout the Western world. Join us as Tessie, takes us through the beginnings of this ubiquitous cheese in the English village of Cheddar, the definition of the cheddaring process, and its implications for cheese production in the centuries to come. How did a style with such humble beginnings end up conquering the western world? We will discuss milled curd technology, texture, and flavor, as we taste our way through some classic examples of this popular cheese style. Don’t miss it!

You might not think of tea as being a typical pairing for a slice of cheese, but the two can be exceptionally good at bringing out the best flavors of each other. Like wine, certain teas contain tannins which result in full-bodied flavors and make for a perfect accompaniment to a variety of cheeses. Our cheesemongers have teamed up with our neighbors at the Zingerman’s Coffee Co. to showcase specially selected teas from Rishi that pair most deliciously with an assortment of cheeses hand-picked by our cheesemongers. Private Tastings & Tours

Looking for a 1 to 2 hour class or demonstration for a tour, social or educational group?

Please use the contact page or call 734.929.0500 if you would like set up a private tasting event with one of our cheesemongers.

There is a non-refundable $50 deposit to hold the date for all private events, this deposit will be applied to the total balance of your tasting at the time of the event. We have tasting spaces that can accommodate up to 50 people. For groups 10-22 there is no charge for our Community Room at the Cream Top Shop, for groups of 23-50 there is a $125 room rental fee.
